"Any Reason" Cancellation Waiver – non-insurance feature provided by Brendan Vacations

If you purchase Travel Protection within 14 days of deposit and cancel your trip more than 48 hours prior to departure for a reason that isn't eligible under the terms of the Trip Cancellation Waiver, Brendan Vacations will provide you with a future Travel Credit Certificate equal to the penalty amount imposed by Brendan Vacations.

For Minnesota, Missouri and New York residents only, the “Any Reason” Cancellation Waiver may be purchased separately from the travel insurance. Contact 1.888.722.2195 for details.

24-Hour Worldwide Emergency Assistance - non-insurance services provided by On Call International

I purchased my airfare separately from my tour. Will the plan reimburse my airline cancellation fees?

No. Benefits are provided for penalties for flights purchased through Brendan Vacations only, not arrangements that you may book on your own.

Is there help while I'm traveling?

One of the valued non-insurance benefits offered in Brendan Vacations Travel Protection is 24-Hour Emergency Assistance Services. With On Call International you have access to the services of a highly trained, multi-lingual staff around the clock to assist you with such emergencies as cash transfers, lost documents, medical or legal monitoring, or referrals. They are also equipped to respond to many unexpected circumstances, such as providing potentially costly air ambulance transportation in medical emergencies. If an emergency should arise during your vacation, call On Call International immediately and give the details of your problem or medical emergency.

I have a pre-existing medical condition; why should I buy Brendan Vacations Travel Protection?

Even if you have a "pre-existing" medical condition, you should still consider purchasing because:

  • if your cancellation refund request is denied, you may be eligible for future Travel Credit Certificates (please refer to the terms of the "Any Reason Cancellation Waiver");
  • you may need to cancel for a reason completely unrelated to your known, pre-existing medical condition. For example, a family member who is not traveling with you becomes ill and now you must cancel your trip; or,
  • you are injured or become ill due to a different medical condition;
  • the plan provides coverage for baggage loss, theft and damage, trip and baggage delays and medical expenses incurred due to illness or injury while traveling.

Please keep in mind that some medical conditions may not be considered "pre-existing" under the terms of Brendan Vacations Travel Protection. Please refer to the Insurance Policy for details.

When is payment for Travel Protection due and how do I enroll?

Please be aware that it is in your best interest to purchase the program at time of deposit. In addition, the earlier effective date may protect you against unforeseen circumstances that could arise at a later date as well as to qualify you for the Pre-Existing Condition exclusion waiver available under the travel insurance benefits.

What happens if I need to cancel my tour?

Please contact your travel agent, Brendan Vacations, and Aon Affinity as soon as possible, as the plan will not reimburse any additional charges incurred due to a delay in notifying Brendan Vacations of your cancellation. Please see below for additional information on how to request a refund through our program administrator.

What if bad weather is predicted where I plan to travel? Will Brendan Vacations Travel Protection reimburse me if I cancel my tour?

No. There is no reimbursement for cancelling due to weather predictions. However, if your airline is delayed due to inclement weather and the originally scheduled flight connections were 90 minutes or longer and scheduled arrival at destination was at least 4 hours prior to the tour departure, the Trip Cancellation Waiver would provide reimbursement.

How do I get reimbursement if my bags and/or personal items are damaged/stolen/lost while I am traveling?

First, obtain verification from the appropriate authority to which you reported the loss (for example, airline, cruise line, hotel, transportation official, police, etc.). Also be sure to save any store receipts you may have for the original purchases. Upon your return home, request a claim form by visiting www.travelclaim.com. You will be asked to complete the form and submit copies of this information along with your claim form, in addition to any response you may have received from your homeowners, renters, or the Air Common Carrier who may have been responsible for the insurance in regard to this loss. You will be reimbursed for items damaged/stolen/lost while traveling up to $2,500. The baggage coverage also includes reimbursement for the cost of repair or replacement of the luggage and its covered contents.

If I require medical care while on my tour, are my medical bills covered?

Yes. Coverage is provided, up to $50,000, for reimbursement of any co-payments or deductibles (of your regular health insurance provider(s)), due to covered accident or sickness that occurs while traveling. Upon your return home, as there is coverage for up to one year for follow up care, additional expenses related to treatment or office visits for the illness or injury will continue to be covered. If you were ill or injured while traveling, please contact Aon Affinity to file a claim and forward copies of your medical bills and any explanation of benefit forms that you may have received from your regular health insurer(s).

If I incur medical expenses during my tour, should I submit them to my primary health insurance company first?

Yes. The Medical Expense portion of Brendan Vacations Travel Protection is excess of all other valid and collectible insurance. The plan provides reimbursement, up to the maximum shown on the Schedule, for all covered medical expenses not covered under your regular health insurance policy. The plan will provide reimbursement to you for deductibles and co-pays that may be imposed by your health insurance.

How do I request a refund?

Please initiate your claim online at www.travelclaim.com. If you plan to cancel your trip call Brendan Vacations to facilitate the refund process.

Please note that you may want to have a copy of your Brendan Vacations invoice handy when you go online as there are some details that will be needed in order to service your request. This information includes your travel dates, date of cancellation, Brendan Vacations booking or reservation number, and some brief information regarding your reason for cancellation, or other type of loss (i.e., trip delays, baggage loss or delay, medical claims, etc.). Important: If you are canceling your vacation, be sure to also contact your travel agent and/or Brendan Vacations to notify them of the cancellation, as well as to avoid additional expenses due to late reporting.

Claim forms will be provided to you within two to three business days. For medical emergencies during your trip which require evacuation or interruption, promptly call On Call International, the assistance company, with your policy number and emergency details.

What are the covered medical expenses if I become sick or injured while on my tour?

Brendan Vacations Travel Protection provides coverage for an array of medical expenses which could be incurred as a result of a sickness or injury while you are on the covered trip. The plan provides Medical Expense benefits for necessary services and supplies which are recommended by the attending physician. Covered medical expenses include the services of a legally qualified physician, surgeon, graduate nurse, dentist or osteopath; charges for hospital confinement and use of operating rooms; charges for anesthetics (including administration); x-ray examinations or treatments and laboratory tests; ambulance service; drugs, medicines, and therapeutic services and supplies.

Are there exclusions?

Certain restrictions do apply. For example, the plan does not provide duplicate payments if there are other sources of reimbursement available. Please refer to the Insurance Policy for details.

Is there a Pre-Existing Condition Exclusion? Can it be waived?

Yes and yes. The plan does not permit cancellations due to a medical condition that first developed, worsened, became acute or had symptoms causing you to seek diagnosis, care or treatment or prompted a change in medication in the 60 days prior to purchase. However, if Brendan Vacations Travel Protection is purchased within 14 days of deposit, this restriction will be waived.
